The Age Forward Lab –
a curated space for rethinking age and aging

Our society is becoming more diverse. More complex. More contradictory. And above all: it’s getting older. What does that mean for the structures we live and work in? Do we need to rethink our perspective on work, education, cities, technology, and culture? The Age Forward Lab is a curated think space for exactly these questions. It brings together people from different backgrounds and perspectives – to rethink age and aging in fresh, meaningful ways.
The Age Forward Lab brings people together to collectively rethink age and aging
The Age Forward Lab is a curated think space that brings together people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and life stages to collectively rethink age and aging. Beyond clichés. Beyond outdated boxes. Beyond the usual routines.
The Lab thrives on interdisciplinary exchange and welcomes participants from business, education, design, urban development, care, tech, architecture, culture, and policy – creating space to learn from one another.
Participation is intentionally limited to a maximum of 30 people – to allow room for genuine engagement, personal input, and open questions.
There’s no division between speakers and participants. Everyone is part of the Lab – on equal footing, bringing their experiences, insights, and ideas. This creates a shared space where something new can emerge – without hierarchy, but with intention and integrity.
Who is the Lab for?
For everyone who wants to actively shape age, change, and the future. Whether you’re coming from a company, an organization, a municipality, or civil society – the Lab is for people who take responsibility, spark ideas, and seek new perspectives.
From leadership, HR, and design to education, urban development, culture, care, or tech – it brings together those who see demographic change not as a challenge to manage, but as an opportunity to shape.
What do participants take away?
The Lab opens up a holistic view on age and aging. It reveals how deeply demographic change affects every part of society – from work and education to urban planning, technology, and culture. And it highlights the untapped potential of true intergenerational collaboration.
It offers relevant impulses, uncovers blind spots, and challenges stuck thinking. It opens up new perspectives, encourages interdisciplinary exchange, and connects personal reflection with real-world impact – whether in companies, organizations, municipalities, or your own sphere of influence.
Where has the Lab been in action?
In May 2025, the first Age Forward Lab took place as part of Designmonat Graz, with a focus on design and creative futures. Among the participants: voices from architecture, science, politics, culture, and care.
Just one week later, the Lab continued in Berlin, bringing together company leaders, designers, coaches, and activists from across Germany. A full recap of the Berlin Lab is available here: Age Forward Lab Berlin.
What both Labs made clear: If we want to rethink age and aging, we need spaces like these –
spaces filled with people who bring different perspectives and expertise, and who are willing to share, connect, and think forward together.

What forms can the Age Forward Lab take?
The Age Forward Lab is available in different formats:
— A tailored in-house Lab for companies, institutions, or networks
— A temporary think space for strategy processes, innovation projects, or cultural programs
— A curated public format in Berlin or as part of festivals, conferences, or urban initiatives
The Lab is modular and fully adaptable. Themes can be weighted differently depending on context, and content can be co-developed to fit specific goals.
Impulse-givers can come from within the host organization, the local environment, or the broader Age Bombs network – creating a space that’s both relevant and resonant.
And what does it cost?
Each Lab is designed individually – based on your topic, duration, target group, location, and the desired level of depth. The cost depends on the scope of the Lab, the curatorial process, and the involvement of selected impulse-givers.
We also host our own curated Labs in Berlin. Follow us on LinkedIn and Instagram to stay updated on upcoming dates.
